Our Services

multi-faceted tasks …

conserving and restoring

The originality and authenticity of a work of art are unique. It is essential to respect both.
With many years of experience in conservation and restoration including intensive examination, we strive to understand the historical connection and material aspects of the works of art.
This maturity of understanding is an integral part of the decision-making process of conservation and restoration treatments.
Conservation and restoration require a carefully considered approach. Both optical methods and scientific analysis are part of our methodology. All treatments are carefully documented, including the materials used. Thereby, what has occurred today is available for future reference.

mounting and framing

A correct conservation-mount and frame are often more important than the restoration treatment. Therefore, these systems are close to our hearts. We enhance our expertise by collaboration with various framers, with whom we have worked together for many years and whose opinions we value.
Recently, we have specialized in the framing of pastels and other works of art with particularly delicate surfaces. We were able to develop two specific and different conservation-systems to securely frame such works.

advising collections

We can prepare condition reports, supervise the conservation needs of exhibitions and offer courier-service. We can also answer your questions regarding climate conditions in exhibitions and storage areas. Monitoring of climatic conditions in storage areas can prevent long-term damage. We can recommend the selection of conservation-quality storage-materials for your collection.

documenting and analyzing

In order to better understand an artwork and its material content, we can conduct various more in-depth examinations and analyses. To this end, we use transmitted-light, a microscope, as well as UV-light and infra-red images. For the analysis of paper fibers, pigments and binding-media, we work closely with external experts in the field.

The fascination with our profession is the combination of craft, art history and science.

For the responsible care of works of art, entrusted to us, it requires respect for the integrity and originality of the objects. This also includes the recognition of the natural aging-process and the preservation of any patina, as much as possible.
